Sometimes, you just want to kill a 'feature', to partition a problem area.

[herrold@centos-5 ~]$ cat /etc/modprobe.conf
# ... 
#       no IP v 6
alias ipv6 off
alias net-pf-10 off
#
[herrold@centos-5 ~]$ cat /etc/sysconfig/network
NETWORKING=yes
NETWORKING_IPV6=no
[herrold@centos-5 ~]$

and reboot.
