Investigations of Abuse and Neglect Completed by Franklin County Children Services: 1983-1997

In 1997, the number of investigations of child abuse and neglect completed by Franklin County Children Services declined to 6,245 from 7,741 in 1996, a decrease of 19.3%. Investigations peaked in 1992 at 8,503 and, in general, have declined since then.

Reports of child abuse and neglect are received directly by FCCS, by referral from a law enforcement agency, courts, schools, hospitals, welfare departments, and relatives.
