60.9% of householders in the Columbus MSA were homeowners in 1987, according to the American Housing Survey. The chart above illustrates the disparities in home ownership rates between whites, blacks, Hispanics and other minorities. White householders had by far the highest rate of home ownership (63.1% of householders), compared to blacks (44.5%), Hispanics (54.5%) and other minorities (39.2%).

The classification of race reflects the race of the householder occupying the housing unit. The classification Hispanic refers to the origin of the householder occupying the unit. Hispanic persons may be of any race.
