Of the 706 respondents to the survey cited above, 86% of those employed full-time and 28% of those employed part-time received health insurance benefits.
Results from a survey of Franklin County businesses conducted by the Columbus AIDS Advisory Coalition provide further data about the link between part-time employment and a lack of medical benefits. Of the 285 establishments that participated, 59% employed part-time workers. The greatest percentage of part-time workers were employed in the trade and services sectors of the economy. Of those businesses employing part-time workers, 89% did not provide medical benefits to those workers.
