Class of worker is defined by the type of ownership of the employing organization. Private wage and salary workers include employees of a private company, business, or non-profit organization. These employees work for wages, salary, commissions or payment in kind. Self-employed workers are persons who work for profit or fees in their own unincorporated business, profession or trade, or who operate a farm. Unpaid family workers are persons who work without pay on a farm or in a business operated by a relative.
