In 1989, the median income for white households was $32,458, compared to $20,518 for black households, $24,891 for American Indians, Eskimos and Aleuts, $27,603 for Asian and Pacific Islanders, and $23,374 for other races. The median income of all households in Franklin County was $30,375. Since 1979 the median household income has risen for all racial groups, after adjusting for inflation.
The gap between white and black median household incomes has increased since 1979. In 1989 the median white household made $11,940 more than the median black household, compared to a gap of $10,568 in 1979, after adjusting for inflation.
